If you have mastered how to apply DIY lash extensions, you might be wondering how to remove DIY lash extensions. As a brand that is passionate about your lash health, we will be the first to tell you it’s not as simple as pulling off your lash segments. To safely complete a DIY lash extension removal we have a few tips to not only protect your natural lashes, but your eye health in general!

Is it Safe to Remove Your Own Eyelash Extensions?

Yes, of course! When it comes to doing a DIY lash extension removal, it’s extremely safe if you have the right tools. We’re here to show you how to remove diy lash extensions at home without damaging your natural lashes or pulling them all off!

Benefits of DIY Lash Extension Removal at Home

Our favorite feature of DIY lash extensions is how customizable they are. This means from when you put on your first set to your tenth set, you have the ability to choose the length and design based on your personal preferences. Removing your lashes is a part of this! It’s extremely easy to remove DIY lash extensions and put on a new set!

Risks of Improper Lash Removal

If you do not know how to take off DIY lash extensions it’s critical to know that if you simply tug at your lash segment, there is risk of your natural lashes coming off with the segment. This is especially true with professional lash extensions. Although TAD adhesive is extremely flexible, with a rubber-like texture, it still risks pulling out a natural lash if you tug at the segment. This is why we always recommend using a DIY lash remover product when you are ready to do a diy lash extension removal.

Using Safe Products Designed for DIY Lash Removal

How to Remove DIY Lash Extensions At Home: Step-by-Step Guide to DIY Lash Extension Removal

Let’s dive into how to remove DIY lash extensions using the TAD 3D Lashes and our TAD Lash Remover.

What You’ll Need for Safe Removal

For a safe DIY lash extension removal at home, here’s everything you will need:

  • TAD ‘Til Next Time Lash Remover
  • TAD Pure Lash Cleanser
  • Lipstick wand or q-tip
  • Cotton Round or Paper Towel
  • Cleansing Brush

Preparing Your Eyes for Lash Removal

There is not much prep when it comes to a diy lash extension removal. If you are wondering how long do DIY lash extensions last, it’s definitely worth noting that the TAD lash system is designed to lash up to 7 days. Many of our customers can get up to 10 days of wear, and there are others that prefer to put on their lashes Monday, and remove their DIY lashes Friday so they can comfortably rub their eyes on the weekend!

Whenever you are ready for a DIY lash style change, or if it’s been about 7 days since putting on your TAD DIY lashes, how to remove DIY lash extensions at home is a quick and easy process!

Gently Apply the Remover

When you’re ready to start, grab your TAD ‘Til Next Time Remover—your go-to solution for how to remove DIY eyelash extensions. Be sure to shake it well before using! As an oil-based product, shaking ensures all the ingredients are properly mixed. Using a lipstick wand, Q-tip, or cotton pad, pour a small amount (or dip your applicator) into the remover. Focus on one eye at a time for the best results.

While keeping your eye shut, apply the remover directly to the top of your lash line, gently rubbing across all lash segments. Then, apply along the bottom of your natural lashes to ensure complete contact.

Allow Time for the Remover to Work

Allow the lash remover to sit for 30 seconds. The remover is fast, but still needs some time to begin activating to truly break down the bonds. We recommend allowing the lash remover to sit for a full 30 seconds before the next step.

Remove the Lashes Carefully

After 30 seconds, you can then begin using either your lipstick wand, q-tip or cotton pad to gently rub the lashes away. You will see your segments slide off easily!

Note – the 10 ml ‘Til Next Time Remover includes an applicator brush that you can use for both application of the remover and to brush the segments off after 30 seconds.

The lashes will come off quickly, but if you notice there is some leftover adhesive on your lashes, you can reapply some remover to those specific spots and repeat the process.

Clean and Soothe Your Lash Line

Once you’ve completed your DIY lash extension removal at home, it’s essential to cleanse your natural lashes thoroughly using TAD Pure Cleanser. Our Pure Cleanser, developed by a pharmacist and manufactured in an FDA-registered facility in Texas, features a powerful formula designed to fight off infections, dirt, blepharitis, and anything else that could compromise your lash health. Extensively tested, this cleanser ensures your lashes remain stunning and healthy after a DIY lash extension removal.

Preparing For Your New Lashes

Just because you’ve an expert on how to take off DIY lash extensions and you take yours off, doesn’t mean you’re done with fabulous lashes! You don’t have to wait a few days before applying a new set. The most important step after you learn how to remove DIY lash extensions at home is thoroughly cleansing your lashes to remove any lingering remover and ensure they are completely oil-free.

Do You Need to Give Your Lashes a Break Before the Next Look?

When you follow the correct steps for how to remove DIY eyelash extensions, there’s no need to take a break before reapplying your next set of DIY lashes. You can remove and reapply in the same day if you want! The key is ensuring your lashes are fully cleansed and free of any residue from the remover. If you’ve used an oil-based product during your DIY lash extension removal at home, a deep clean is critical before applying a fresh set of DIY lashes.

Tips for Strengthening Natural Lashes During Downtime

If you’re looking to strengthen your lashes between DIY lash applications, we recommend using a lash growth serum. PLA Velocity Brow & Lash Serum is a fantastic product that helps your natural lashes become fuller and thicker. The serum works at the base of your lashes, extending the Anagen stage of the lash growth cycle to promote longer lash lifecycles. Whether you’re taking a break or preparing for your next look, this product is perfect for nourishing your lashes after mastering how to take off DIY lash extensions.
