Press Release Reno, NV –  TAD Beauty, a brand-new line of the patented, world’s first-ever 3D printed false lashes created by PLA founder and professional lash artist Michelle Nguyen, is launching on September 23, 2024.

TAD Beauty partnered with OPT Industries, an advanced digital manufacturing company to make the lashes at scale.

A lash industry veteran, Michelle grew and scaled the professional lash manufacturing company PLA (formerly Paris Lash Academy) into a $30 million a year company. She herself began wearing DIY lashes after she developed an allergy to eyelash extensions. She soon discovered that there was a hole in the market for DIY lashes that had longer retention, provided more support, and most importantly were comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

An innovator at heart, Michelle soon realized that 3D printing would provide her more control than conventional manufacturing methods, and that she could create products that matched her specifications with a lot of accuracy, with more say in the material and what it’s made from.

After collaborating with OPT Industries for nearly a year, the result is incredibly comfortable, long-lasting lashes. TAD Beauty’s lashes use a proprietary formula for their hair fibers, and have a memory flex technology created by a globally renowned chemist as well as the use of “microstructures” or little hooks, which increase the surface area, providing more opportunity for the glue to go in.

“With TAD, we’re not improving on something that’s already in the market - we’re creating something entirely new,” says Michelle Nguyen, Founder and CEO of TAD Beauty. “3D printing and our unique microstructures are the future of DIY lashes, and will set the foundation for the next generation of eyelashes. Our partnership with OPT Industries allows us to continually innovate in the lash category - and the sky's the limit.”

“Michelle has the vision and the passion to bring a product to life and really make something special,” says Clinton Holmes, Director of Emerging Markets at OPT Industries. “Unlike some others, she sees the full potential of 3D printing. Her passion to do something incredibly novel makes it so much easier to work with. She’s changing the entire category with TAD.  With her knowledge of the lash world and OPT’s technology, we’re changing the game for lashes.”

A main struggle to creating lash fibers at scale is maintaining the fine resolution necessary. When using traditional 3D printing to create a finer part, most light engines will lose the printable area. Creating finer resolution products is time-consuming, as the product needs to move through the printing process, then wait before it moves down.

OPT has a patented technology system that allows them to continually move the part through process, allowing them to achieve the rare combination of fine resolution and high production volume - perfect for creating lash fibers at scale.

What sets TAD Beauty apart from other DIY lash brands?

  • 3D Printing: The lashes can be printed in multiple different angles facing different ways, giving a more natural look to the lashes.
  • TAD 3D Memory Flex Technology: Allows the lash segments to keep its curl and shape and not flatten over time. The lashes will bounce back and retain their original shape even after sleeping on them.
  • Microstructures: TAD Lashes have “microstructures” or little hooks on each segment which increase the contact surface area, providing more opportunity for the adhesive to grab hold of the natural lashes. The microstructure wraps around the natural lash, allowing it to function as a little comb, helping the TAD lashes wiggle into the natural lashes and last longer than traditional lashes, and provide extreme comfort.
  • Unique Formulation: TAD’s hair fibers are from a proprietary material that they created after 108 iterations. Most false lashes are made with Korean PBT (aka Nylon) which aren’t stable and can lose the curl easily.

The brand is launching with a full kit to do lashes, which can also be purchased individually.
