Since our launch in 2024 we have told many people all about TAD’s 3D printed lashes. And surprisingly, one of the most common questions we get is “what is 3D printing?” But our original idea was not to be the world’s first 3D printed lashes. Our mission was to create the most comfortable DIY lashes. Ever. It just so happened 3D printed supported our mission. We’re going to share the technology behind our lashes and how they can change your beauty routine to be easier and more comfortable.
Reinventing DIY Lashes with 3D Printing
At TAD Beauty, we didn’t just set out to make another DIY lash. We set out to make the best. And to do that, we knew we had to invent something totally new, starting with how lashes are made.
That’s how we became the first in the world to create 3D printed lashes, powered by cutting-edge materials, groundbreaking design, and smart manufacturing. Traditional lash production just couldn’t deliver the comfort, curl retention, or long wear we demanded, so we reimagined the lash from the inside out.
This isn’t just innovation for innovation’s sake. It’s beauty by tech. It’s DIY lash clusters that actually work for you. Let’s break down what makes our 3D printed lashes a beauty revolution.
What Are 3D Printed Lashes?
The Basics of 3D Printing
Let’s keep it simple. 3D printing (also called additive manufacturing) is a way of making objects by building them up layer by layer from a digital design. Imagine stacking thin slices on top of each other until you get the final product, like digital sculpting.
At TAD, we work with a proprietary 3D printing system, which uses a technique called Digital Light Processing (DLP). This tech projects light onto a liquid resin that hardens on contact, allowing for ultra-precise parts with smooth finishes and complex shapes.
Why Traditional Lash Manufacturing Wasn’t Enough
We had three non-negotiables when creating TAD’s DIY lash system:
-
Comfort that lasts: No poking. No stiffness.
-
Curl that stays: Even if you sleep on your face.
-
Retention you can trust: Because lifting corners is so 2015.
But the reality is, mass-produced lashes using basic injection molding or hand-tied methods couldn’t deliver. The materials would lose shape, the bases would feel bulky, and the glue would fail within a day or two.
So, we built our solution from scratch.
Introducing: TAD 3D Memory Flex Technology
Our breakthrough 3D Memory Flex Technology is a proprietary material designed specifically for lash wear. It was engineered to:
-
Work with your body temperature, the first lash ever to do so.
-
Hold curl even when exposed to skin temperature, oil, or sleep.
-
Flex and bounce back into shape, every single time.
-
Feel weightless on the eye while maintaining structure.
This material is only available at TAD, and it’s the foundation of everything we do.
Meet the Microstructure: A New Way to DIY Lash

We didn’t stop at just the lash fiber, we reinvented the base, too.
Each TAD segment features a microstructure comb at the base: tiny fibers that sit at a 90-degree angle. This isn’t just for show. These microscopic combs:
-
Hug your natural lashes from multiple angles
-
Distribute adhesive evenly
-
Prevent poking, lifting, or detachment
With this multi-point contact system, your lashes stay comfortable, secure, and in place for up to 10 days.
Most lash clusters rely on flat, single-plane designs. That means they stick to your lash line from just one side. But with TAD’s 3D printed lash clusters, the wrap-around microstructure holds better, wears longer, and moves with you.
This is lash tech at its finest.
The 3D Printing Process, Simplified
Want the science without the jargon? Here’s how we do it:
-
We slice a digital lash design into super-thin layers.
-
A projector flashes each layer onto a resin bath, curing that shape.
-
Each segment is printed onto a moving film, called a roll-to-roll system, which allows us to print multiple parts in parallel.
Unlike traditional 3D printing (which builds a few items at a time), this method is faster, scalable, and ultra-precise, perfect for detailed lash work.
This is how we’re able to produce dozens to thousands of high-quality lash segments per run, all consistent in shape, curl, and comfort.
The Result: The Most Comfortable Lash Clusters in the World
When you apply a TAD DIY lash kit, you’re not just applying lashes, you’re wearing the result of years of engineering, material testing, and innovation.
-
Lashes that stay curled, even when you sleep on them
-
A microstructure that hugs instead of pokes
-
Segments designed to last up to 10 days
-
Lashes that look like salon extensions, but DIY in minutes
It’s not magic, it’s science. And it’s available now.
Why 3D Printed Lashes Matter
If you’ve ever worn strip lashes that lifted at the corners…
If you’ve ever dealt with stiff clusters that irritated your eyes…
If you’ve ever had lashes that flattened by day two…
This is for you.
3D printed lashes allow us to:
-
Control every curve, every base, every fiber
-
Create consistent quality in every lash kit
-
Produce custom, comfortable, extended wear lashes at scale
No more compromise between comfort, beauty, and retention. TAD is a new standard of quality, and we’re just getting started.
Who’s Behind the Innovation?
TAD Beauty was founded by Michelle Nguyen, a professional lash artist who spent nearly two decades working in salons before creating her own product line. After developing a sensitivity to traditional lash adhesives, she set out to build something better. What started as a personal mission became a tech-powered lash revolution.
With her background in professional lashes and nails, Michelle knew what was missing in the DIY lash space: comfort, control, and credibility.
So she built it, from the ground up.
TAD lashes are designed in the USA, powered by tech, and created by beauty experts who truly get it.

Powered by Self-Care. Built by Experts.
TAD isn’t about following trends, it’s about setting them. Our DIY lash kits, 3D printed lash clusters, and pro-grade adhesives are designed with one goal in mind:
To help you feel like your most confident self, every day.
We believe beauty should be comfortable. It should be tech-forward. And it should empower you, not hold you back.
Our 3D printed lashes are just the beginning.
